Our citizens have always “rallied around the flag” in moments of great crisis; Pearl Harbor, John F. Kennedy’s assassination, and Nine-eleven.

Though more localized, the Boston Marathon Bombing, recent hurricane disasters as well as the raging forest fires that ravaged our Western states have all united and focused us.

Today during this COVID-19 pandemic many Americans have self quarantined. They see this as not only protecting themselves, but also protecting all their family members. I believe that deep down they know their isolation is protecting their community and their country.

We have all seen the compassion of our neighbors and the fortitude of our first responders, and the unrelenting dedicated service of our medical community.

We have seen grocery store employees show up to work in what must be considered a hazardous environment.

We, whether alone or with our families gather each day in front of televisions to watch the daily pandemic news briefings.

We receive advice and comfort from the medical experts at these briefings, however these “rally around the flag” moments have turned into a “rally ‘round his flatulence” moments.

We’re all confined in small spaces like occupants in stalled elevators. The smell of Donald’s lies creeps up on us. Enveloped, we yearn for blessed escape.

Many in his GOP party have not only grown accustomed to the aroma but have actually BRANDED it. They sell it on each of their Infomercial briefings to a captive audience.

Our so called “leader” treats each of these briefings as a sideshow and a GOP campaign rally.

He blames anyone and everyone for the sad state we are all in now. All while his arrogance, his disdain for the free press, his lack of intelligence, and his poor leadership skills are on display.

Some are buying what he has to sell, but hopefully most are not.

Rally ‘round his flatulence at your own peril.
